Tour Features

Drive up the East coast of the island, which was once covered in sugarcane plantations. See what history remains and learn of its impact left today. See waterfalls, the lush rain forest, and enjoy a fresh fruit smoothie. Stop for pictures along the way at several scenic spots overlooking the bay of Hilo. A guest favorite stop is Laupahoehoe Point, a gorgeous black sand beach. Then you can try a delicious smoothie and a small, local smoothie shack. They are 100% organic with fruit grown right on the property.  Visit Mokuola Island and hear about the Hilo City of Refuge. Learn about Hawaii’s Superman and how he broke the island, and his mother hid him from furious Gods. On the return back, take a short hike near beautiful Akaka Falls. Learn the legend of the loyal dog and the lovers that created Akaka Falls.

Optional Add-on: Botanical gardens with incredibly gorgeous views of the ocean that you cannot get anywhere else. The garden teaches you the history of the area, local folklore, and has an impressive collection of orchids. It is a perfect way to see the stunning flora that grows on this island.

*If you are joining us from a cruise ship and would like to do the Botanical Garden Tour, this will take the place of driving up to Laupahoehoe. *
